Job Description:

Fleming Tech Camps is searching for qualified candidates to work as ‘Classroom Managers’ (i.e. senior counselors) at its STEM summer camp locations. Our camps are very unique and we offer a hybrid learning model where we utilize a tag-team approach to teaching. In this job, you will be working at a local campus and help facilitate the program. In addition to your job, the camp will have an additional staff member (what we call a Subject Matter Expert) who will ‘beam into the classroom’ (via a proprietary telepresence system) and will be responsible for teaching our specialized camp materials.

In your role, as the ‘Classroom Manager’, your primary job is to help campers stay focused, making sure that they are behaving and staying on track with their projects. You will help campers with their projects and make sure that they are staying focused, behaving, and staying safe. Your primary responsibility is to:

  • Actively assist campers with all camp activities and troubleshoot any problems that they might have (technical problems or lesson-based issues)
  • Help Subject Matter Experts maintain communication with the campers
  • Provide and maintain a safe and fun online learning environment
  • Serve as a positive role model for campers

You will need to have strong computer skills and feel comfortable working with campers to solve basic technical problems (logging in to Zoom, rebooting slow PCs). You will provide learning and lesson support to campers that need extra help or who need to be provided support to go beyond the curriculum. As the ‘Classroom Managers’ you will also work hand-in-hand with our online Subject Matter Experts to make sure the campers stay on task and work on projects. You must have very good communication skills, and should have real world experience with managing a classroom of students or campers. You are the eyes and ears of the camp program and you will sometimes need to help campers relay technical questions to the Subject Matter Expert and have the ability to see when a camper needs help, even if they don’t ask for it themselves. You must also be able to use LMS systems to keep track of lesson plans and upcoming assignments. In the case of a technical problem, you will have the resolve to troubleshoot the issue and make simple fixes to computer problems. You will also have to log campers in and out of software, set up video projectors and maintain other AV equipment. This is the perfect summer job for teachers and aspiring education students that love to work with kids and who have a passion for technology, digital arts and video games.
